vCard means a virtual business card. It allows for digital transmission of the contact data and has been standardized by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) as RFC 6350 RFC 6350 - vCard Format Specification.
How can it help my organization?
The landscape has changed for the traditional business cards. They’re not exactly smartphone friendly and most people organize their contacts using smartphones these days. Sure, you can tell someone your phone number and hope they save it correctly but vCards not only prevent typos but also hold a lot of more data.
How does it work?
Really simple, you present a QR code which can be scanned by a smartphone camera which then prompts the user whether to save a new contact.
